Election Night!

For election night, NYU hosted their own "Nuit Blanche" (all nighter) at school with 2 rooms for results watching, lots of food, and lots of people, both French and American. It was a really great event and there were soooooo many people. In fact, I don't think that I knew the majority of them because there were people from everywhere (including one kid I met who's Mom works at the US embassy and is going to high school here). Naturally, this being NYU and France, most people were rooting for Obama, so when he won, the place went crazy - people were jumping, yelling, crying, calling people back in the US, it was insane. And an extremely long night. Since we were watching live, we didn't get the results until about 5:30 in the morning. On the walk home, the French garbage men were yelling at us "Yes we can!", so you can see how excited the everyone was, regardless of their nationality.

The TV in the room that I was in all night long. The other room had a large projection of the elections and held probably about 2 to 3 times as many people that were in this room.

Everybody awaiting the results.

Still waiting...I missed the shot of everyone jumping up into the air when Obama won.

That's so cool, about the US election and all. No one around me was excited. Most have just been passing aroung the latest threatening Obama joke and most still have their McCain signs in their yards. Ah, good old Lancaster-- so racist and cruel.
