Crêpes and Chocolat Chaud

This morning I woke to the smell of pancakes coming from the kitchen.  When I peeked in though, it turns out that Beatrice was actually making crêpes for her grandchildren.  Fortunately for me, she insisted that I have some and they were so delicious.  It was the first time that I have had crêpes that weren't bought off the street.  What a perfect breakfast...

Also, this past weekend I went to salon de thé (tea room) callled Angelina.  It's right by the Tuileries Gardens and the Louvre and the restaurant is famous for its chocolat chaud (hot chocolate) so of course, we all had to get some.  It was the thickest, richest hot chocolate that I have ever had and it comes with a side of whipped cream and ice(!) water.  They also serve food and pastries, and their specialty pastry is the Mont Blanc, which kind of looks like a brownish ball of hair/spaghetti covered in powdered sugar, but is actually a meringue base with a chestnut purée on top.  It was a lot different from what I was expecting, but delicious nevertheless.  I think it kind of has the same fame status as Serendipity's in New York, but with a shorter line because it's a lot larger and hot chocolate instead of frrrozen.  Oh, and I almost forgot, when we were just about finished with our meal, we saw a tiny mouse run out of a crack in the corner of the wall and when we mentioned it to the waiter he said, Yes, this is an old building, it happens all the time!

Aren't you hungry now??
